Biography of NBA Player Ben Gordon

When entering the professional level, certain athletes have high expectations. Very few of these athletes live up to these expectations. Ben Gordon, however, is an exception to that theory. Entering the National Basketball Association draft in 2004, Gordon was selected third overall by the Chicago Bulls. Demonstrating his sensational skills at the University of Connecticut, Ben Gordon was highly touted by several NBA clubs. His ability to pose as a threat on offense was appealing to many professional basketball teams. During his freshman year at the University of Connecticut, Gordon put up considerable numbers, scoring over twelve points per game. His efforts would eventually lead to gratifying results; Gordon helped lead the Huskies to a national title during the 2004 NCAA basketball season.

As far as his professional basketball career is concerned, Ben Gordon began making an impact for the Chicago Bulls right from the beginning. In the 2004-2005 season, which was Gordon’s rookie year, he averaged over fifteen points per game in addition to over two rebounds per game. Though he has received much recognition throughout his career, Ben Gordon’s most stunning accomplishment came in a game in 2006 when he managed to hit nine consecutive three-point shots. This feat set a new National Basketball Association record. Gordon’s ability to continuously hit shots from behind the arc earned him the reputation as one of the most threatening players to ever stop foot on a basketball court.

The Chicago Bulls have been home to some of the game’s most exciting superstars, including Michael Jordan himself. Ben Gordon unquestionably fits into this class of basketball extraordinaire, as evident by the outstanding numbers that he has posted throughout his young career. In December of 2007 Gordon reached a milestone in Chicago Bulls’ history, as he surpassed Scottie Pippen on the all-time three pointers made list (with that franchise). Unfortunately for the Bulls, Gordon’s basketball career ended with that club during the 2009 off-season, when he agreed to a multi-year deal with the Detroit Pistons. With a current career three-point field goal percentage of over .400, it is no secret that Ben Gordon is one of the most consistent shooters to step foot on a basketball court. Given the success of Ben Gordon at a very young age, there will be tremendous opportunity for him throughout the rest of his professional basketball career.
